Privacy Policy

What we collect

Overtone has no account system of its own and no advertising. We collect no name, email address or contact details. A few services receive limited technical data, described below.

What stays on your device

Your library, playlists, favourites, playback positions, equalizer and boost settings, imported files, downloaded episodes and cached artwork. All of it lives on your iPhone and is never uploaded to us. Deleting the app deletes it.

Purchases

Purchases are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to verify subscription status, which receives an anonymous identifier, your purchase state and the attribution identifier described below. It never receives your name, email or Apple Account details.

Measurement and attribution

Overtone uses Appstack to understand which marketing channels bring people to the app, together with Apple's Ad Services framework for Apple Search Ads attribution. These receive a randomly generated installation identifier, your device type and operating system version, the marketing source that led to the install, and whether you started a trial or purchased. They do not receive your name, email address, Apple Account details, or anything about what you listen to.

Overtone uses Firebase Analytics, provided by Google, to understand how the app is used. It records anonymous usage statistics only: app opens, session length, which screens are viewed, and whether a purchase was made, together with your device model, operating system version and country. It does not record what you listen to. There is no advertising SDK, no cross-app or cross-site tracking, and no advertising identifier is collected, which is why Overtone does not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt. Google processes this data on our behalf as a data processor; see Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Optional SoundCloud sign-in

Signing in to SoundCloud is entirely optional and is used only to show your own likes, playlists and the people you follow. The connection is handled by SoundCloud's own login. You can sign out at any time from the SoundCloud screen, and everything else in the app keeps working without it.

Services the app talks to

To fetch content, the app makes requests to: SoundCloud (tracks and artwork), radio-browser.info (the community radio directory), Apple's public podcast directory and each show's own RSS feed, Deezer (music genre names and artwork), and Firebase (Google, anonymous usage analytics). These services receive your IP address as part of any normal web request. We send them nothing about you.

What we never collect

We do not collect or transmit what you listen to, your library, your playlists, or your equalizer settings. Overtone contains no advertising SDKs and does not sell or share data with data brokers.

Children

Overtone is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
